Just returned from the stunning JW Marriot Resort on Lake Rosseau in the Muskoka Region of Ontario. The Battle of the Airbands was very competitive, with teams fully immersing themselves in the performance. As de facto judge I had a very difficult time picking two finalists and eventually gave in to the two that lobbied the hardest for a spot in the final. “Blue Lightening” was eventually crowned champion for their performance of YMCA. It was a competition so entertaining that a few gate crashers had to be escorted from the ballroom.
After the competition the band played dance music, took requests and repeatedly brought guests on stage to sing-a-long. The evening ended with a spirited rendition of “Sweet Caroline”.
We have been at The Rosseau before but it was the first time we have used the Port Carling Room. While the room itself is a beautiful but unremarkable ballroom, it opens onto a stunning terrace, complete with a fire pit and a breathtaking view of the valley. The bar was outside on the terrace and the weather was amazing so we took a few breaks so our guests would have an opportunity to savor the surroundings.
Thanks to Eddie from AVWTelav for his technical advice!
