Venue: Sheraton Airport Hotel, Toronto, ON
Program: U Rock
It was a cold and snowy night. A giant arctic front was pushing into the GTA, causing whiteouts, drifting and windchill below minus twenty. The weather forecasters were recommending that everyone simply stay home. But no mere blizzard was going to prevent this team from EMCO from rocking! Although most of this group had never touched an instrument before, our facilitators did a great job of training three incredible bands.
Mike and the Pipeslayers set the bar high with an stunning rendition of “I’m Gonna Be (500 Miles)”. Psy and the Lubricators followed with “Sweet Home Alabama”. And just when we thought we had seen the night’s best performance The Broken Pipes hit the stage with their reggae flavoured rendition of “These Boots Are Made for Walking”. The great music and cool band names continued through our Jam with the Pros segment, with performances by bands like The Sarcastically Hip and The Water Jerks. A spirited rendition of Sweet Caroline was the perfect group sing-a-long and concluded a great night of music.
